Paintball Marker Speed Adjustment

All  Paintball Markers need to be checked by a paintball chronograph each time they are used, to ensure they are not shooting too fast. Paintballs can leave massive welts and bruises, if shooting to fast. At Fun On The Run Paintball Park,  we set the speed of markers at 285 F.P.S. (Feet Per Second) each day of play and tag the marker to let us know it has been checked for that day. Also if you are shooting too slow, paintballs won't break on your target, which is no fun!

Need help with adjusting your paintball marker or the knowledge about i, come by the Fun On The Run Pro Shop and ask a rep.

Even if you have no knowledge of how to fix your marker or equipment, having the tools to do so is still a good idea!

" As a former professional paintball player and a master paintball tech I have been to many parks and events where someone's marker needed a quick repair, but they had no tools or parts to do so. With out the the tools and parts, other players and I could not lend any knowledge or a helping hand. With a marker that needs repair, they were left using a rental marker or calling it a day. If they just had a basic tool and parts kit for their marker setup, they could have been up and running in a few minutes. " ----David Creamer Former Professional Paintball Player

Fun On The Run Paintball Game Rules - Overview

Here are some of the basic rules for paintballs games at Fun On The Run Paintball Park

Safety First

Two of the most important rules of any paintball games are the Goggle On Rule and the Barrel Safety Cover.

Goggle On
Always, ALWAYS keep your goggles on while not in a protected area. Paintball is an inherently safe sport as long as the required safety equipment is worn during play. Virtually the only way a paintball can injure you is if you are hit in the eyes. We require that everyone not in a protected area keep his or her goggles on AT ALL TIMES. All of our rental goggles also include complete ear and face protection. If your goggles fog up, you are not allowed to remove them to clean them. You must keep your goggles on at all times. If you need assistance, call for a referee. Players removing goggles on the field will be pulled from the game and could result in ejection from the park.

Barrel Bags/ Barrel Covers
Barrel Covers MUST be in the barrel of your paint marker AT ALL TIMES when you are not playing a game or are in a safe zone. This is a safety measure to prevent accidental discharge of paintballs in an area where players are without eye protection.

Elimination from the game
You are eliminated from the game if you are hit by a paintball on any part of your body (including the marker, packs, harnesses or goggles), and the hit leaves a mark the size of a quarter or larger. Splatter and marks smaller than a quarter (as well as bounces) do not count as elimination, but if splatter accumulates to an elimination-sized mark, you are eliminated from that game.

If you are eliminated from play, immediately signal the referees and opposing players by yelling "HIT!" or "OUT!" and raising your hand above your head. Opposing players should immediately cease fire on that player. Once you can safely exit the field of play, move toward the field exit and place your barrel plug in your marker. Point your marker in the air and one hand over your head as you exit the field. Players still alive MUST NOT fire on any player exhibiting the above signs of elimination.

Any player exhibiting the signs of elimination IS ELIMINATED. You cannot say "I'm hit" and then after you realize it didn't break, turn around and keep playing. Once you say you're hit, players will stop shooting at you and move on. If you are suddenly back in the game, it's not fair to them because they may now be in a bad spot. Once you say you're out, you are out. There will be other games.

Once you are out of the game, you are not allowed to signal or talk to any active player or otherwise relay any information about the ongoing game, including positions of players, number of players, positions or status of flag stations, etc. "ELIMINATED PLAYER’S DON'T TALK" is the key phrase here.

20 Foot Rule
To avoid having player's fire at each other from close range, we prefer everyone use the 20 foot rule
This means:

If you are within 20 feet of an opposing player and have an obvious elimination shot, ask them to surrender.
If you are within 20 feet of an opposing player who asks you to surrender, please do so. You will have lots of other chances to play.
However, a player who is asked to surrender does have the choice to continue playing.

Park Staff /Judges
Judges are on the field to enforce rules of play, start and stop games, assist guests with equipment, and help the players in any way possible. Judges have the final ruling in elimination's and rule enforcement. Judges will instruct players at the beginning of each session as to the rules.(which may change from time to time) Paintball is just a game but it's not a fun game when people break the rules. Please refrain from playing after you're hit, wiping off paint, shooting at close range, etc. You will be eliminated from the game for breaking rules. You may be asked to leave if it becomes a habit. Always follow the judges' instructions both on and off the field - they are there for your safety. Anyone found intentionally shooting a field judge would be ejected for the rest of the day.

Do I have Bad Manners?
If so this is probably not the right sport for you. We are a family establishment, So leave your bad manners and bad language at home. You can and will be removed from a game if you cannot control your language. You can be asked to leave if it is a severe problem. There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for any player physically hitting, fighting, grabbing, or "lighting up" another player on the field. Any player acting in this manner will immediately be removed from the field and told to leave without a refund. Please remember that paintball is just a game. Please inform the staff of any players who break the rules. Absolutely NO ALCOHOL will be allowed on the premises. Anyone found consuming alcohol or found to be intoxicated would be denied further play. Paintball and Alcohol do not mix.

Remember this is not a full list of paintball game  or Fun On The Run Park Rules, just a quick  overview to get you ready for your day of paintball games

What is Paintball?

Paintball is played year around at organized outdoor playing fields. Paintball is a game played between two opposing teams who are trying to capture each other's flag and return it to the flag station. The only catch to all this is, you have to do this without getting zapped by a paintball. Of course you do get to shoot back with your paintball marker. Once you have been zapped you are out for that game. Do not be concerned because games last anywhere from a few minutes to 20 minutes. So you can play as many games as you would like in a day.

Who Plays Paintball?
Paintball is one of the only sports were men, women, and children can compete on a level playing field. Anyone from the age of 10 years old and up can play paintball. You will see all walks life playing paintball from children to their mom and dad, they all play paintball. Any physical type can play paintball too. You do not have to be a track or football star to be good at this game. Who plays paintball? Just about everybody can or does play paintball.

What is a Paintball?
A paintball is mostly a .68-caliber gelatin ball. It is filled with cornstarch, food coloring, and mineral oil. Paintballs are non-toxic and biodegradable. Paintballs come in all colors of the rainbow. Such as green, black, pink, yellow, and many more.

What Should I Wear?
When playing paintball, you will need loose fitting dark colored clothing. The dark colored clothing is to help you blend in to your natural environment. Some players wear camouflage, but we recommended some old clothes, something you would wear to work in the yard. Pants and a long sleeve shirt are also recommended. The paint should wash out of all your clothing. Running shoes or Hi-top cleats are preferred. Also, when you rent equipment you will be issued a pair of paintball goggles and a facemask that will cover your whole face.

Paintball Beginners Tips and Pointer's

Beginners always make a few simple mistakes. Not to worry, these are the same mistakes that everyone makes. Here are a few helpful hints:

Goggles On
Never, EVER take off your mask!!! We can't stress this enough. It is very detrimental to your vision's health. A paintball at 285 feet per second could do permanent damage to your eyes. Don't ever take your paintball face protection off, except in designated areas.

You are not a super hero
Don't try to be a super hero. Make sure you understand you and your paintball marker's limitations, whether a rental marker or your own marker.

What to Wear
Wear darker clothes, don't wear white. White is just too bright, you will get creamed. Wear some type of boots or comfortable hiking/running shoes. Something that is comfortable, light, quick, and provides excellent traction in grass and mud.

Always be honest
If you get hit and see the splat on you, please raise your hand and exit the game. There is always another game to redeem yourself.

Always learning
Don't be afraid to ask or learn. With the speed of technology these days it is hard for anyone to know everything about paintball.

Keep your eyes open
Many players make a great play and then quickly get eliminated because they were not looking around (they get tunnel vision) for other players. Tunnel vision is a mistake even the most advanced players make. It's not easy to look around. It is common to try to focus on one thing. Try to look around as you run, hide, attack, and take cover.

Be Alert
Be alert and never focus too much on one thing. Don't keep zipping paintballs at the same guy behind the bunker or tree over and over again. Move on and surprise him from the side or another angle.

Move Around
Don't stay in the same spot too long. If you are in a fort don't keep slinging paint from the same side for too long, its not productive. Go to the other end, go to the second level, do something! Move away from the bunker, walk out unprotected and hold people down. Don't stay in one spot too long!

Never Give Up
Whether you run out of air, paint or energy... don't ever stop or quit, you are still useful. No one has to know that you are all out.

These are some basics tips, the great thing about the game, is there is no right or wrong way to play....Just be Safe.

Paintball Safety Tips

Paintball has become the fastest growing extreme sport and with this there are growing concerns about the safety of the participants. We at Fun On The Run Paintball Park want to stress the importance of following a few simple rules to keep this a safe sport for all players and spectators.

  • Players should always play at regulated fields with referees to oversee the games as well as check paintball markers with a chronograph. A chronograph will check the speed that the paintball marker is firing to insure that you stay within the legal limit of 285 feet per second. This is something that should be checked daily.
  • Players should always wear paintball approved goggles. These goggles have been tested and have the impact resistance that is necessary for protecting you from injuries. Goggles are to be worn at all times while you are on the playing field.
  • Barrel blocking devices (B.B.D.) are to be on your paintball marker at all times while you are off of the playing field. This insures that players and spectators are protected from accidentally being hit by a paintball at close range.
  • Shooting your paintball marker is only permitted on the paintball field and in the target range. The target range is a safe place where you can chronograph and test fire your marker. Always wear protective goggles in the target range as well as on the field.
  • Never work on your paintball marker without taking safety precautions first. This would first require wearing protective eye wear and disconnecting your air source.
By following these basic safety tips everyone can be assured to have a safe, fun filled day!

History of Paintball - Overview

Around 1980, a couple guys in New Hampshire were talking about a recent hunting trip one of them had taken. The conversation turned to how they could re-create the excitement, skill and adrenaline rush of the thrill of a hunt, without harming the “target”.

About a year and a half later, another friend showed them a paintball gun, which had historically been used by loggers for marking trees and cattlemen for marking cattle. The two guys came up with the idea of using the paintball marker to hunt each other. Thus the sport of paintball was created.

In the early 80s, paintball games started to take shape. These survival games, similar to capture the flag, placed teams against each other. The initial guns were clumsy and slow loading, the protective gear was makeshift or borrowed from workshops and the paint used was oil-based.

Today, the modern paintball player wear special protective gear and use rapid-fire paintball guns that shoot water-soluble biodegradable, non-toxic gelatin “paint” capsules.

Warning: Goggles in picture are not approved paintball goggles. DO NOT USE ANY Goggle System that HAS NOT been ASTM Paintball Approved. Permanent eye damaged could occur, if non-proper eye protection is used!

NASCAR meets Fun On The Run Paintball

Back on September 30,  2008, Kyle Busch one of NASCAR’s top drivers and a host of the local media to the paintball field at Fun On The Run Paintball Park for a few games of paintball. The media geared up to battle Kyle and his team, including Eddie Gossage from Texas Motor Speedway, in three rounds of splat-tastic paintball.

The first round Kyle’s crew won in a very convincing fashion, round two was a very hard fought battle that went back and forth until the pro driver and his team came out victories. Now, with a few games under the media’s belt they took the field with a new game plan and the confidence to win. The final match was hard fought and left Kyle Busch’s team on the ropes. With time running down Kyle took matters into his own hands and made his move into the media side of the field and eliminated the last three media members. With the paintball side of Kyle’s day winding down, he was heard saying “that he wanted to continue playing paintball”, however life as a pro athlete would not allow it, he had to return to the track. Fun On the Run Paintball would like to thank Kyle, all Media, and Texas Motor Speedway members who helped us at Fun On The Run produce a fun filled paintball day.
